Disease Genomics Group Activities

18-19 October 2013

We were selected for an oral presentation in the IV Congreso de la Red Nacional de Biobancos, in Madrid, Spain.

GCAT|Genomes for Life. Desarrollo e implementación de e-GCAT, una herramienta web-based para la colección y seguimiento de datos en e-epidemiologia genómica

GCAT Project is developing a recruiting and follow-up tool using specific web technologies to develop the GCAT cohort (e-GCAT) and its integration into a public resource intended for genomic research (GCATbiobank.org). The e-GCAT tool has been built-up and adapted from the ONYX project, an open-source system created by the P3G consortium.

8-11 October 2013

We  presented a poster in the European, Middle Eastern & African Society for Biopreservation & Biobanking (ESBB) 2013 Annual Conference in Verona, Italy.

GCAT|Genomes for life. Cohort Study of the genomes of Catalonia. Validation of the use of White cells Residue from a blood donation for biobanking purposes.

In large population cohort studies the extraction of a high quality and quantity DNA in an efficient manner with a lower consumption of resources and automation is essential. We have developed and validated protocols for automated DNA extraction and quality control using a high concentrated White Cells Residue material derived from routine blood donations.
