16th European Neurofibromatosis Conference
IMPPC Researcher is Co-organizer
Barcelona received the 16th European Conference on Neurofibromatosis 4-7 September. The event included the Spanish National Experts Meeting and a program of events for and by the European Patients Associations.
The event was co-organized by Eduard Serra of the IMPPC and Conxi Lázaro and Ignacio Blanco of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO).
At the opening event lthe organizers and representatives of the institutions supporting the event all mentioned the importance of clinicians, researchers and patients working together. They highlighted the Multidisciplinary Unit for Neurofibromatosis Type 2, the first in the country of its type, at the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital in Badalona. This model of organization has two important features: firstly doctors and researchers work together to discuss cases; secondly patients are able to see all the specialists required in one clinic on the same day. In effect, the unit provides more integrated diagnosis and treatment for patients.
