Group Leader Genetic Variation in Cancer
Eduard Serra studied biology in the University of Barcelona, finishing the degree at the University of Manchester. His PhD thesis was completed in the Genetics Department of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and the Institut de Recerca Oncològica (IRO). He then joined a multidisciplinary team at the Molecular Sciences Institute in Berkeley, California, to work on the "Alpha Project", a long running project with the goal of understanding the quantitative behavior of a prototypical yeast signal transduction pathway devoted to pheromone sensing. On his return to Barcelona he continued to study NF1 as a post-doctoral research and later, at the IDIBELL, he started his own team, which studies cancer and quantitative genetics, cancer syndromes and uses yeast as a model system. Eduard joined the IMPPC on January 2009.
