MISSION OF THE IMPPC:

To identify the molecular patterns that allow for the prediction of the development of a cancer and its personalized treatment. The activities at the IMPPC concentrate on:
 

• The discovery of molecular markers for diagnostic and prognostic use.
• The identification of the genetic variants and their epigenetics that determine the resistance and susceptibility to development of the cancer.
• The personalization of the treatment by identifying the factors that will predict the response to the treatment.

In summary the fundamental goals are:

• Prediction
• Personalization
• Prevention

VISION OF THE IMPPC:

The IMPPC will develop the necessary instruments to make the concepts of Predictive and Personalized Medicine a practical reality.

In the future the IMPPC will be a reference centre for the prediction and personalization of cancer.

• Starting from knowledge of the genetic susceptibility of patients the orientation of medical practice will be changed, putting the emphasis on prediction and prevention.
• Detection of the pre-symptomatic phases of the disease will allow preventative actions to be taken and, in the case that the disease appears, permit us to combat it more efficiently and in safer ways.
• Prescription of the correct drugs with the correct dosage will be possible, tailored to the needs of each patient.
